Paul Mitchell Express Ion Hair Dryer Review

As a salon professional, there is nothing that I love more than a tool that pulls its weight. I have found a tool that does exactly that. Today I am going to give a review of the Paul Mitchell Express Ion Hair Dryer.

Hairdryers are one of those tools that are essential. Without them, it can take our hair hours to dry. There’s not much that you can do with wet hair, after all.

As with any good review, let’s see what comes in the box!

The Paul Mitchell Express Ion Hair DryerOpens in a new tab. comes with the following:

  • The hairdryer itself
  • Instruction booklet and safety guide
  • Concentrator nozzle
  • Diffuser Attachment

Right off the bat, I’m pleased with this dryer because it includes everything I need to style and dry hair. It may be a bit shallow, but I also love how this hairdryer looks.

It comes in silver or black and is very sleek. I chose black to match my other tools.

Upon picking up the dryer, I immediately feel how comfortable it is in my hands. Without using it, I can already tell that I’ll enjoy it.

It may be the stylist in me, but the grip and weight are a make or break for me. The Paul Mitchell Express Ion Hair DryerOpens in a new tab. has a great handle that makes it easy to hold.

The fact that it’s a good weight is important because I will be holding it countless times a day

I don’t want a large, clunky, and heavy dryer I will need to lift and hold for minutes at a time.

Paul Mitchell has tricked this hair dryer out with an easy to open vent to clean the filter easily. They have also had the great idea of adding an easy-to-read LCD display screen.

From it, I see the power and heat level quickly.

I also love the flexibility of this tool. Here’s what I mean: this hairdryer has six heat settings and six speed settings. That’s double what most average dryers have! It gives me complete control and allows me to create styles with ease.

Being sure of the heat and power level is a must when styling hair, especially when executing the perfect blowoutOpens in a new tab.

I’m Not the Only One

I cannot be the only person who feels the need to check the ratings and reviews. On Amazon, there were 220 ratings of the Paul Mitchell Express Ion Hair Dryer.

The average of these ratings was an impressive 4.5 out of 5 stars.

That high score shows me that most people who purchased the hairdryer genuinely like it. I put a lot into these reviews and ratings because the tools I buy are an investment in my business.

This is one of my favorite reviews:

“I purchased this five years ago, and it’s still going strong! I’ve never had a problem with it. Everything about it is high quality.” ~ Decey Rivet…5 Stars

I highlight this review because it speaks to what I expect out of Paul Mitchell products. Whether it’s in the salon or my home, I want products that are durable and high-quality.

The Express Ion Hair Dryer delivers on both.

Know What You’re Doing

Nozzle and diffuser attachments for the Paul Mitchell Express Ion Hair Dryer

I want clients to know how to use their hair supplies correctly when they have left the salon. The Paul Mitchell Express Ion Hair DryerOpens in a new tab. comes with a diffuser attachment and a concentrator nozzle.

Hooking these into your blow-dryer is a great way to refresh your locks.

Diffuser attachment: This attachment calms down your blow-dry to preserve curls. Set your dryer to low heat, and after using your favorite productsOpens in a new tab., hold your hair to your scalp with the diffuser. This helps to add volume, movement, and definition to your waves and curls.

Concentrator nozzle: One of the best ways to control flyaways and frizz is with the concentrator nozzle. The attachment helps air to be concentrated on a single portion of hair. I especially love using it for blowouts.

If you do a blowout at home, choose a round brush, specifically one like theseOpens in a new tab. from Spornette. Their bristles can hold hairs in place and create good tension.

Just between us, no matter what style you go for when using a hairdryer, use the cool shot button. I use it at the end of drying my hair to seal the cuticle and boost shine in my hair.

Healthy, shiny hair is something to take pride in. The Paul Mitchell Express Ion Hair Dryer not only dries hair but leaves anyone who uses it with beautiful hair.

What’s not to love?
