Below, I’ll walk you through the steps for choosing the right oils and learning how to make beard oil. First, you should learn the right way and wrong way to apply the oil: Carrier Oils for Beard Oil Recipes The carrier oil is the main ingredient. This is the base of the beard oil. It is often a thicker oil that can easily be massaged into your beard. Jojoba oil also does a good job of moisturizing, as it’s similar to the natural oils found in your hair. If acne is a problem, you should consider using hazelnut. These are the two most invigorating oils. They pack a bit of a punch, which can help wake you up in the morning. Eucalyptus and Cedarwood are good for your skin. The eucalyptus can prevent skin irritation, while the Cedarwood could help prevent acne from popping up under your beard. The other essential oils mentioned, including sandalwood and rosewood, are mostly added for the scent that they provide. You can find essential oils at most home goods stores – or around your girlfriend’s place. Though, she may not appreciate you using her oils to learn how to make beard oil. How to Make Beard Oil with a DIY Beard Oil Recipe You’re almost ready to start making your own beard oil. You just need a few beard oil recipes to ensure you use a good combination of oils. I recommend that you start with one of the following two beard oil recipes. Along with the oils, there are just a few other items needed: 1-ounce bottles A shot glass or small glass A small funnel A stick for stirring the ingredients You can purchase a pack of empty 1-ounce or 2-ounce bottles for a few bucks. This is needed for storing your beard oil. I find that it’s easier to mix the ingredients in a shot glass before pouring into the bottle. Just make sure that you thoroughly clean the shot glass – you don’t want a whisky-scented beard oil. You then use a small funnel to pour the mixture into the 1-ounce bottle. You only need two ingredients: 1 tablespoon of coconut oil (melted) 5 drops of peppermint oil Melt the coconut oil for a few seconds in the microwave. Then, add the peppermint oil and stir. Pour into the bottle and allow to cool and thicken before applying. Natural Scent Beard Oil Recipe This next recipe has a pleasant, outdoorsy aroma, thanks to the inclusion of Cedarwood and sandalwood: 1 tablespoon jojoba oil 1 tablespoon coconut oil 3 drops Cedarwood oil 3 drops sandalwood oil This beard oil doesn’t have the same powerful effect as the peppermint coconut oil recipe. Instead, it is a soothing mixture. First, melt the coconut oil and then combine it with the jojoba oil. Add the drops of essential oil, mix, and pour into your bottle.
