A Review of Breville Compact Juicer

Citrus fruits

Let’s get one thing settled right away. Juicing is not better for you than eating fresh fruits and vegetables. The Mayo Clinic Opens in a new tab.suggests that if we can, we should just eat our veggies. Juicers are not magic diet machines. You get less fiber using your vegetables this way. So why even bother to juice? That’s what I thought until I tried the Breville Compact Juicer.Opens in a new tab.

When’s the last time you ate three stalks of celery, two apples, some beets and carrots, all at the same time? At our house, we all struggle to get enough fruits and veggies more days than I’d like to admit.

Five servings of fruits and vegetables a day?  Sometimes we eat very healthy meals, and then there are times…well, do fruit loops count? Fruit is the main ingredient, so no problem!

The idea of juicing as a way to sneak in some of those healthy veggies started to sound pretty appealing when I decided I wanted to boost my immune system a bit.

Besides, I’ve been trying to increase hydration in more exciting ways. It’s okay to eliminate all that soda and caffeine, but plain water can get boring rather quickly. And at the prices of those fancy bottled vitamin waters, your juicer will pay for itself in no time.

I did quite a bit of research on all the different kinds of devices that you can use to make fresh juice and after much research decided that the best way to go was the Breville Compact Juice Fountain 700-Watt Juice ExtractorOpens in a new tab..  Why? Several Reasons.

The Breville Juicer is Compact

Breville JuicerOpens in a new tab.The last thing I’m interested in is another counter hog. Or cupboard filler. If something is too big, it’s going to get packed away and never make it out to see the light of day.

I don’t have enough counter space for everything that I use as it is, so no, I don’t want one more thing that doesn’t get used because it’s just too big.

The Breville comes in at 10.5 by 16 inches, so it conserves counter space compared to many juicers I checked out. I like that!

The Breville Juicer Gives You Shortened Prep Time

Right away I noticed that it has an extra wide chute – 3 full inches – and this allows you to drop bigger chunks, sometimes whole fruits and veggies- without a lot of pre-cutting.

I might as well fess up; if there’s going to be a lot of chopping, it’s not going to happen very often. All the good intentions in the world slow down if I’m going to have to spend much time standing at the counter chopping, so I appreciate this extra wide chute.

The Breville Juicer has a Froth Separator

Foam and Froth naturally occur when some fruits and veggies are juiced. When it comes time to pour your delicious concoction in a glass, no one wants half foam.

I like that the Breville Compact Juicer ExtractorOpens in a new tab. has a juice jug so that you only get wonderful fresh juice in your glass. Maybe I’m just picky that way, but less foam is a good thing.

Easy To Clean but Still Heavy Duty

This baby is very easy to clean, and most of the parts are dishwasher safe. That in itself is a bonus. But being easy to clean doesn’t mean it’s flimsy. Heavy grade polymer makes up the body. And it has a stainless steel cutting disc for smooth operation.

I guess the main thing is that I’ve found a way to add the nutrients of fresh fruit and vegetables without making a considerable chore out of it. I love that I can add to my well being in such an easy manner. It’s a win in my book.

I thought I might as well share a few ideas on what to try out if this is your first experience.

First of all, if you are new to juicing, start on the sweeter end of the continuum.  Adding fistfuls of kale to the morning routine will last about 30 seconds if your first mixtures are bitter. Much like other foods and beverages, many vitamin-rich blends are a little on the bitter side, and are an acquired taste, in my opinion.

Apple

Instead, think about something like replacing a soda with a homemade apple lemonade. You’ve just created a fun, easy, refreshing drink from 2 apples and 1/2 small lemon. That’s it. It’s not necessary to peel the apples, but yes, do peel the lemon.

Easy Peasy

See how simple this is? And both apples and lemons are jam-packed with nutrients. It’s not always about the kale!

Another healthy but straightforward juice concoction would be two carrots and an orange. Both of these suggestions are just easy ways to add a bit of nutritional support to your daily routine without going crazy with all kinds of produce you’ve never eaten before.

Like any other new idea you want to incorporate into your life, juicing is something you can begin and see benefits immediately if you start slowly but stay with it. Experiment with whatever you have on hand as your taste buds develop.
